In this paper we verify the possibility of implementing a regionalcomparative analysis between two systems, the State of Rio de Janeiro and theCampania Region. Primarily, we defined the boundaries of analysis area. Then,we will provide a comparison of the hierarchical structure of the two systems ofcities, applying the rank-size distribution or Zipf's law on the top 15 cities ofeach one. Finally, we will analyze the specificity of each system and themetropolitan areas of Rio de Janeiro and Naples.
