Microbubble implosion is a concept that may be developed to have nuclear fusion of proton-boron mixtures, leading to either energy production or alpha particles. Both results would be relevant to applications. To investigate this possibility, we conducted a numerical analysis, modeling a submicrometric hollow target constituted by an external gold layer and two internal layers made of boron and hydrogen. Moreover, EPOCH PIC simulations were presented to support some early hypotheses of the concept. The reactivity〈 σv〉 was obtained and presented with a preliminary optimization of the target and energy production estimations.

Abstract
Microbubble implosion is a concept that may be developed to have nuclear fusion of proton-boron mixtures, leading to either energy production or alpha particles. Both results would be relevant to applications. To investigate this possibility, we conducted a numerical analysis, modeling a submicrometric hollow target constituted by an external gold layer and two internal layers made of boron and hydrogen. Moreover, EPOCH PIC simulations were presented to support some early hypotheses of the concept. The reactivity〈 σv〉 was obtained and presented with a preliminary optimization of the target and energy production estimations.File in questo prodotto:
