Similarities and differences between male and female entrepreneurship remain hotly debated topics in need of further investigation. This paper aims to contribute to the debate by focusing on an exemplary case of female entrepreneurship, from a particular area of southern Italy—Capri—, analysing the evolution and emancipation of a typical domestic occupation—that of the seamstress—into a creator of fashion and of commercial and tourist events in the international fashion industry.
