Due to various environmental factors, all types of electrical cables (i.e., forming wirelines) are subject to defects and accelerated aging phenomena. For automotive application field, modern diagnosis methods and tools are required with the increase of the data rates and modulation complexity, and small degradation of channel response leads to an amplified bit error rates. This paper presents a short overview of literature describing existing network diagnosis methods and techniques for wireline based data/power transfer. Among many surveyed measurement methods, the reflectometry based ones have proven to be the best available candidates. In the paper, new perspectives and future research directions are also described and proposed.

Abstract
Due to various environmental factors, all types of electrical cables (i.e., forming wirelines) are subject to defects and accelerated aging phenomena. For automotive application field, modern diagnosis methods and tools are required with the increase of the data rates and modulation complexity, and small degradation of channel response leads to an amplified bit error rates. This paper presents a short overview of literature describing existing network diagnosis methods and techniques for wireline based data/power transfer. Among many surveyed measurement methods, the reflectometry based ones have proven to be the best available candidates. In the paper, new perspectives and future research directions are also described and proposed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
