Professionalism of lecturers: blurred potentialities In the article, the author, having reiterated the importance of the publicist structure of university teaching, focuses on the critical issues in the legislation that emerge in the regulatory kaleidoscope of the professionalism of university professors. Compounding the complex legal framework, including aspects on the purposes of the university system, the author points out how in the face of the demand for the professor to carry out renewed activities of teaching and research or functional to the new objectives of the universities (think of the third mission), or managerial and organizational, there is no adequate attention to structured training paths. The omission is as bad for the professional growth of faculty and their equal opportunities as it is for the educational and social effectiveness of university action. It benefits only that academic and political power that has good play in the discretionary choice of figures regardless of the qualification acquired through training.
