After briefly reviewing the history of Argentine tango, the paper considers a model describing the elements which drive the dance and allow the attunement and the synchronization within the couple of dancers. Subsequently a statistical approach is proposed to analyze the activity of the dancers when the number of leaders and the number of followers differ.

Abstract
