The recent Italian legislation on corruption (190/2012 Law) established a new position, the head of prevention of corruption (RPC), in each public entity. Five years later, this research describes professional profiles, resources and activities of the RPCs in public-owned healthcare organizations. Moreover, it discusses the opportunities to improve the effectiveness of RCPs’ action. Empirical data were collected through a national survey filled out by the RPCs from 83 Italian healthcare organizations, which represent the 41% of the total number of healthcare organizations. The main recommendation concerns the integration of the oversight activities, both at an IT level and at the organizational level, through the unification of the RPC role with the internal audit function.

Abstract
The recent Italian legislation on corruption (190/2012 Law) established a new position, the head of prevention of corruption (RPC), in each public entity. Five years later, this research describes professional profiles, resources and activities of the RPCs in public-owned healthcare organizations. Moreover, it discusses the opportunities to improve the effectiveness of RCPs’ action. Empirical data were collected through a national survey filled out by the RPCs from 83 Italian healthcare organizations, which represent the 41% of the total number of healthcare organizations. The main recommendation concerns the integration of the oversight activities, both at an IT level and at the organizational level, through the unification of the RPC role with the internal audit function.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
