Cationic zirconium complexes of formula [CpzZrBz]+, [Cp'ZrBq]+, or[ZrBz3]+ (Cp = q5-CgH5, Cp' = Cp or q5-CgMe5, Bz = CHzC6H5) have beentested as catalysts for the polymerization of ethylene and a-olefins. The catalystperformances have been compared with regard to polymer productivities, molecularweights and stereoregularities, and tentatively correlated to the structure of the ionicactive species.
