The fundamental process step within the production of SNG from biomass is methane production. In the present work, methanation is considered to be carried out in a series of adiabatic fixed bed reactors with inter-cooling and product recycle. A robust mathematical model for the considered configuration has been developed that would essentially capture the fundamental operations of the methanation process and help to provide optimal guidelines for industrial operations. In detail, several CO/CO2 feed ratio compositions and recycle ratios were analyzed.
