The paper analyses the geography of the Italian Information Society and assesses its national policies on the basis of scientific literature, policies documents from developed and developing countries, an extensive use of international, national, sometimes regional indicators and in depth interviews with international and national opinion leaders withinh the field of Information Society Policies: it also proposes some pertinent issues in terms of policies tested with relevant experts.
