In this paper, the results of a study aimed to assess the landslide susceptibility in the Calaggio Stream basin Southern Italy) are depicted. Lithology, Land-use, acclivity and aspect have been selected as causal factors. Four thematic maps have been compiled using GIS software. A geomorphological map has also beencreated by using classical tecniques of analysis of the relief. From the geomorphological map a landslide inventory map has been derived. Overlay procedures, performed in GIS environment, between this latter map and the other thematic maps have allowed us to calculate the densities of both the landslides and the landslides detachment surfaces within each class of the selected causal factors. By means of bivariate statistical analysis, weighting values based on the calculated densities have been obtained. The overlay of the thematic maps, previously classified on the basis of the calculated weighting values, has allowed us to produce two susceptibility maps. They have highlighted that more than 43% of the study area displays a high-very high landslide susceptibility. A comparison between the landslide susceptibility maps and the geomorphological maphas pointed out the excellent geomorphological coherence of both of the susceptibility maps, which is higher for the susceptibility map produced by considering the density of solely the landslides detachment surfaces.

Abstract
A comparison between the landslide susceptibility maps and the geomorphological maphas pointed out the excellent geomorphological coherence of both of the susceptibility maps, which is higher for the susceptibility map produced by considering the density of solely the landslides detachment surfaces.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
