Abstract In this paper we propose the geo-touristic dissemination and valorisation of the disused lignite mining site at Morcone (BN). The Idea that we offer, even in planning terms, is founded on a possible educational training addressed to a wide diversified public of beneficiaries, especially students. Known methods and information have been applied, which have been successfully experimented on the other sites in similar conditions to complete an already established local tourism which is wide and varied and already established (religious routes as well as routes focusing on historical and architectural aspects, archaeology, wine and food, fauna and flora) which has a discrete tourist flow approximately 54,000 people per year whit - economic value 1.5 million euro per year. The mining site, active from 1915 to 1951, represented an importand economic resource for the community and could continue to perform this function, with his full potential, like a geo-touristic resource.
