In order to do such assessment, Remote sensing tecniques are used with a specific application, which permit to classify changes of coastline through the comparison of several Landsat images in the period 1975-2004. The classified data are analyzed with the aid of a GIS software, thus surfaces in erosion or in accretion are evaluated in the fixed range of time. From the obtained results the coastline moved backward up to 260 m (erosion), in correspendence of the mouth of Biferno River, and more forward in the strech at the south of the harbor of Termoli. The mean rate of the erosion/accretion is also evaluated for any strech of the examined coast. The whole dataset of results is perfectly comparable with literature data coming from independent surveys.

Abstract
The whole dataset of results is perfectly comparable with literature data coming from independent surveys.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
