In this paper a synthesis of the current knowledge about the hydrogeology of the territory of Irpinia area has been depicted. The main aquifers (carbonate, alluvial and conglomeratic system aquifers) are examined in their most significant qualitative and quantitative characteristics, through the utilization of unpublished data recently collected. Moreover, they are graphically represented through a detailed hydrogeological map (1:100.000 scale), which highlights their schemes of groundwater flow. For each of the examined aquifers the degree of vulnerability to pollution is valued. Finally, the main hydrogeological aspects concerning the thermal-mineral waters are described. The collected evidence here displayed is an important tool for future applied research; in particular, it can help in improving the integrated management of the water resources of the southern Italian Regions.

Abstract
The collected evidence here displayed is an important tool for future applied research; in particular, it can help in improving the integrated management of the water resources of the southern Italian Regions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
