We summarize the basic aspects of the recently introduced concept of 'metamaterial analog computing'. This concept relies on metamaterial structures that are suitably designed so as to perform mathematical operations of choice (e.g., spatial differentiation, integration, or convolution) on the transverse profile of an impinging wave signal as it propagates through them. Within this framework, we illustrate two possible design approaches, present some representative results, and discuss possible future developments.

Abstract
We summarize the basic aspects of the recently introduced concept of 'metamaterial analog computing'. This concept relies on metamaterial structures that are suitably designed so as to perform mathematical operations of choice (e.g., spatial differentiation, integration, or convolution) on the transverse profile of an impinging wave signal as it propagates through them. Within this framework, we illustrate two possible design approaches, present some representative results, and discuss possible future developments.File in questo prodotto:
