The work fronts the problem of preventive maintenance costs for electric devices in case of power factor correction. The model presented uses a set of costs related to the context of power factor correction. The graphical representation of the total costs with respect to the intervention time of preventive maintenance allows the identification of the optimal time of a preventive maintenance, minimizing the total maintenance costs. The experimental case has provided a valid test bed to related to the values for those primary costs included into the model.
