The need to generate specific territorial databases for the knowledge of the territory is widely diffused in public administrations; many times the requested information are very detailed while the available time for their collection is too small. In order to satisfy these requirements it is necessary to implement integrated procedures and advanced GIS-based techniques that are able to quickly generate the requested data. Integrated fast GIS (GSI) may represent an effective procedure able to provide, quickly enough, an appropriate response to these new needs for the knowledge of the area. The peculiarity of this informative environment may be found in the integration of data, collected by using different techniques and methods, which are characterised by innovative procedures for surveying and georeferencing the required information. This paper proposes a GSI process for generating the road register for a provincial network, where a lot of specific data are object of the survey and have to be collected, explained and formalised, in digital format, within the geographic information system.
