Abstract

Unified Modeling Language is proposed as an effective framework for constructing simulation models of hybrid manufacturing systems. Plant consists of a network of machines and buffer; parts ' flow through the network varies according to Markov chains. Machines are represented as hybrid automata in which continuous time dependent operating conditions are modeled through ordinary differential equations. Modularity, versatility and maintenance of the model are ensured by the use of the unambiguous Unified Modeling Language. A concise idea of model implementation in Matlab environment is provided through a case study description of a realistic turbine components.
