Abstract

The protection of the rights of European citizens after the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union represents one of the most important issues in the doctrinal studies. The analysis of the English legislative action about freedom of movement and residence clearly shows that, before the referendum which established the decision to leave the EU, United Kingodom has often taken steps to restrict the entry and residence of European citizens, although European Directives have been transposed and incorporated into national law. So, the paper deals with the potential (and more “disruptive”) post-Brexit effects on the internal market and on the free movement of workers.
