Abstract

In this paper we propose a Decision Support System (DSS) for determining the optimal operational strategy to be implemented on a metro line in the case of breakdowns. The methodology is based on a micro-simulation model of the metro system to estimate on-platform passenger behaviour and related travel generalised costs. Numerical results for a real-dimension network show that optimal strategies could differ according to breakdown severity and fleet composition.
